Finding UGC creators in France: where to look, how to choose
A UGC creator shoots videos or photos delivered as files to the brand, for its accounts and its ads. This guide covers where to look in France and how to compare profiles.
Where to look
Four starting points:
- a creator directory, with filters by niche, network, followers and content type;
- a published offer, paid mission or gifted product, that creators apply to;
- social networks: recent content about a similar product, in the target city or category;
- the brand’s own customers who already post about its products.
On CollabLib, the creator directory is open to signed-in businesses; the business account is free.
Dated, sourced statistics
Each statistic comes with its date and source: declared by the creator, a screenshot of their insights, or read from the public account.
A UGC video runs on the brand’s accounts and ads. For this format, the creator’s latest content matters more than their follower count.
For an influencer post, the audience matters: followers, usual views, audience country and city.
On CollabLib, a creator’s statistics show their date and source on the profile.
Reading the engagement rate
The engagement rate compares interactions (likes, comments, shares) with the number of followers.
Calculation methods vary between tools: two profiles are compared with the same method.
On CollabLib, the engagement shown combines the creator’s networks, each by its follower count, based on readings of their accounts.
Engagement far from that of accounts of the same size is checked in the comments: questions about the product, real exchanges between followers.
Formats and examples
The format comes before the creator:
- UGC video delivered as files to the brand;
- Reel or TikTok posted on the creator’s account;
- stories, for a dated offer or a venue;
- product photo, in 1:1 or 4:5.
The creator’s examples are viewed in their format, 9:16 for video, with the date of the latest piece.
The brief states the format, length, number of pieces and revisions included.
Usage rights
A UGC video meant for advertising needs written advertising rights: uses, platforms, territory and duration.
The French Intellectual Property Code requires each transferred right to be mentioned separately (article L131-3).
A budget raised in steps
CollabLib’s UGC rates page publishes the rates declared by registered creators, by format, with the median and the date of the reading.
A first amount is set from these benchmarks. It is then raised in steps, based on creators’ responses.
The same offer sent to several creators at once gives responses to compare.
A gifted product works as a first trial, for the cost of the product and shipping. CollabLib takes no fee on a gifted product.
